Week 5 Journal Entry: Oregon!

Directions: You have just reached Oregon. Reflect upon your journey. Also write your feelings about finally making it to Oregon. What does Oregon look like? What are your plans and future goals now that you are out west?

Week 4 Journal Entry: cholera

Directions: There was a cholera outbreak on your wagon train. Write your feelings regarding this deadly disease. What are the symptoms of the disease? Did anyone in your group become ill? Is this hardship making you question your faith or your decision to go to Oregon?

Week 3 Journal Entry: river crossing/hill crossing/accidents

Directions: Your group either forded or floated a river. Write the outcome. Did your wagon tip and you lose supplies? Your wagon was also lowered down a steep hill. Write the outcome. Write about any other accidents your group experienced. Now what are your feelings about your trip to Oregon?

Week 2 Journal Entry: first public meeting

Directions: Write the rules and guidelines set at the first public meeting. Write your thoughts about how the public meeting went. Is there anything that would make future public meetings better? Write your thoughts about the first section of the journey. What are some of your experiences on the trail? (Remember the resources explored in class.)

Week 1 Journal Entry: introduce your character

Directions: Include your name, who is in your family (left behind and going with you on the wagon train), what your job was back east if you had one, why you are going to Oregon, and your feelings about the trip.
